Tucked away in an alley on beautiful Coronado island, CrossFit Coronado
is a human performance facility that is completely invisible to most. It is known by some who set out on a pilgrimage to visit one of the toughest gyms in America. And it is the home to a special few.
Founded by members of the military special operations community, CrossFit Coronado is an organization dedicated to the advancement of human performance and a return to functionality. Here, you won't see scores of cardio-bots jamming to their headsets while reading magazines on elliptical trainers. Nor will you find high-tech weightlifting machines, yoga balls, or the latest in fitness gimmickry. The tools of our trade are much simpler and are used for exercises that are more primal in nature.
We believe the movements and exercises used in training should look normal outside of the training environment. Long before Gold's Gym, our ancestors were running, jumping, squatting, throwing, pushing, pulling, and climbing. By training in these movements, we are reconditioning our bodies to function in the manner that they were designed.
But it's not the equipment or methodology that truly makes CrossFit Coronado special. It's the people. The trainers and clients that comprise the CrossFit Coronado family come from diverse backgrounds. We train military special operations personnel, housewives, businesspeople, athletes of all ages and abilities, and grandparents. What binds us together is the common desire to train for functional competence and dominance. Our members encourage each other to excel, and congratulate one another for their efforts. In fact, the CrossFit Coronado community is so strong that our members enjoy a retention rate of over 80% a year after joining, as compared to many other area gyms that have retention rates of 20% or less. Long story short - our members join, and they stay.
If you're new to the CrossFit methodology and want to see CrossFit Coronado for yourself, contact us and we'll set you up with a basic movements course. We may be the last gym that you ever join.
